Joseph R. McMahon, III was born in Metairie, Louisiana on April 8, 1966. After graduation from Jesuit High School, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Spring Hill College in 1988 and his law degree from Southern University in 1992.

Prior to and during law school, Mr. McMahon was employed as an adjuster with F.A. Richard and Associates and the Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association. Additionally, he worked as a law clerk with the firms of Matthews, Atkinson, Guglielmo, Marks and Day in Baton Rouge and Hailey, McNamara, Hall, Larmann and Papale in Metairie, Louisiana.

After admission to the Louisiana Bar in 1992, Mr. McMahon joined the New Orleans District Attorney's Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, he prosecuted over ninety jury trials and one hundred fifty bench trials. In January of 1996, he joined civil practice and currently practices in the areas of insurance defense and criminal defense.

Mr. McMahon is admitted in all Louisiana State and Federal Courts and maintains an active practice before these Courts.
